Honey ~ Do : 4th of July Edition
Wow you did a great job this week. You sprinted through. Yesterday was a bit spacey and weird but well..it’s over and now on with our Three Day Weekend! Woo Hoo!
1.) Make your quintessential 4th of July cake. We make ours with gluten free flour… I let the kids put the flag stripes and blueberries on. Sounds educational right? Right.
2.) Glow sticks cost a buck. Kids go crazy for them. So dole out the glow sticks this weekend. Have relay races with them…play catch..or just use them as beacons so you know where all your kids are in the dark.
3.)Teach a newbie to pick crabs….Does that statement sound inappropriate to you..well then you don’t know crabs. Here is a tutorial on how to shuck your crab. It’s like I told my husband at his first crab feast, “I will shuck the first one for you…the second you can watch…and then you are on your own…crabs are an Olympic event.”
4.)I don’t know exactly how you enjoy your 4th of July festivities, however you get down… remember this young girl and try not to fall into the same pitfalls…
5.)As we celebrate our freedom this weekend maybe you could think about popping the cork on the old wallet and let a few bills fly , ya know, in rembrance of those founding fathers on each bill face…. so perhaps you could go to Compassion International and donate a few presidents. The link will take you to a page which lists many one time gift options….perfect for your happy celebratory mood!
6.)Make sure you stop 10 times this weekened and just sink into the moment around you. Capture it in your thoughts. Look around remember what people are saying ~ the smell of the cooking ~ the feelings in peoples faces. Do this as an exercise in training your mind to really enjoy these moments in your life.
7.)Bring something Fresh to you family gathering. Maybe find something Fresh when you are there. Either way you should come with a fresh dish for the weekend.
8.)These are out. Of. This . World. Surprise someone with a bowl.
Happy 4th of July.~T
I like number 6! I will do the same with my family. Thanks for sharing.
You will surely be blessed by choosing that one.

We are spending the weekend with my friend from college 🙂 and we’ll watch our families play together. Absolutely can’t wait. My husband would really want to get in on all that crab, though. And he’d want to know — do you eat the “butter” inside?
Butter? Lol…we call it the mustard and although we don’t go out of our way to eat it…we don’t let it slow us down. I think I recall my husband washing it off with a beer once but that was years ago and he can’t drink beer now…so we just roll up our sleeves and plow through.

do number 2. but just don’t let your teething one year nephew bite all over one and then rub his eyes…he might go temporarily go blind and scream like a banchee and you’ll feel super bad. (I know from experience)
other than that- carry on!
If only you blogged back then…stories of a first time aunt and the things the books don’t tell you.
