Show up and Sign up

August 8, 2011

If we were given enough spiritually on Monday to last us all week … would we come back the following Monday for more? Or would we drift off forgetting where we were filled up from?
I think there is a reason we are given only so much..
it’s so we come back.

If you think you don’t hear from God enough…it’s not because of Him…it’s because of you. There are plenty of full schedule weeks where I beg to have more then one day’s worth…how will I carve time out of the next day? It rarely works like that…I have to seek. What would any relationship be if only one side sought out the other? I mean do you think you have seen it all? Because you haven’t – the verse about His mercies are new everyday is no joke, it’s not just a cute feel good verse we can stick on the fridge and smile at (not a bad idea though). It is an invitation… but to know this you need to be willing to show up!
Then you need to actually show up…start with
5
10
15
minutes.
The more you show your faith in showing up…the more you will be shown and the more you will be blessed. The result of this will be hearing things you had never heard and knowing things you thought were reserved for the “big whigs”.

So much to be thankful for this week as we all recover from me being sick over the weekend….but let’s just stick to ten for the time being….

1.)Lexi’s miracle healing before she leaves on a life changing call to Uganda. Do pop over there and give her some serious congrats…Muzunga Mama.
2.)Health and healing in this house.
3.)Asthma in Zim which did not turn into an E.R. trip. Another miracle.
4.)A stellar husband who managed all the meals while I was sick as a dog.
5.)A husband who came home *surprise* a day earlier from a week long business trip…I warned him we were a petrie dish and he still came home early…he is cool like that!
6.)Soaking rain.
7.)An awesome sister (who had already been sick) coming over and hanging out with my-hot-mess-of-a-sneezy-self and talking about dreams…and laughing about me sounding like a Speak and Spell circa 1984.
8.)A baby who does the cutest Freeze Dance from The Fresh Beat Band kids show, all over my house with the most lit up eyes when she “freezes”.
9.)Picking food out of my garden instead of fretting about what to cook.
10.) A gluten free pizza shop 15mins away….what a luxury!!!!! (especially when momma is sick)

What are the ways you seek out God? I think often people think this is some impossible feat reserved for monks, church leaders and women perfectly dressed-up-at-4am-with-a-mauve-covered-bible-in-lap. There isn’t just one right way of doing it…so what works for you?~T

Oh so glad you stopped by.
I think about you every week…. and sigh, because I want to have some art worth displaying…lol…well at least worth blaring out on the internet. I mean if your slip is going to show ..it better be a pretty slip…right? Especially if you are going to stand in front of a crowd with it!
You are such an encouraging voice. Thanks again.

I’ll be honest and say what drew me here was that your name is T. My BFF is T. ๐Ÿ™‚

She also links to Ann’s blog on Mondays. ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like your writing. I am encouraged (and in need of) your admonition to seek Him daily…. yes, His mercies are new each morning!!!!

And I loved the last bit about not having to be a dressed up woman at 4am with the mauve Bible! That made me smile…. it sounds like something I would say. ;>

So glad you are feeling better and praise God for such a great hubby!

    Blessings,
    Kara

As for seeking God, I agree 100%, we need to show up and we’ll be amazed at how much we hear.

I look for opportunities when I am alone and listening to praise and worship music and often just sitting outdoors with my first cup of coffee looking at the mountains and listening to the birds..in that still quiet place do I hear from Him..

Wow we practically get to it the same way… I with a steaming cuppa tea…always.

In this season of my life I find that music is a great way to connect with God. So when the kids and I load up I find myself turning up the volume to a great CD and singing along as loud as I can. We also have dance parties in the living room and I let the words sink in while the moment lasts. It seems that this season being a mama to 3 little ones there are only short moments for anything and distractions and interruptions everywhere. So a song, or even half a song, is one way I find to connect to God throughout the day. ๐Ÿ™‚

There are defined different seasons in our lives of how we will be able to break away and seek God. Your kids are blessed to have you as a mom.

Can you order the mug to say “usband”? Because I want to. That is perfect. ๐Ÿ™‚ My “usband” would love it! Maybe a “ife” one for him? A matching set.
What a beautiful post about the importance of relationship going two ways. He waits, but we must come.
I love to sit on my red couch with a mug of coffee, a pup at each knee and my brown covered Bible. Always in the morning.
Happy to find you from Ann’s. I am #78 today, so I am visiting all with “8” and you were the first. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks for stopping by.

We are rewarded according to our good deeds and according to our faith. God blesses when we come to him. And you are right: it is a daily coming and a daily blessing.
Thank you for stopping by On Your Heart Tuesday. Sorry I didnt get back before now but didn’t see your link until today. It is open again for this week if you would like to share your heart again. Now I am hopping over to Msungu Mama. I grew up in Africa so am interested in knowing who this white mama is!
