No one is older here

August 26, 2011

Being older has never set in my heart.

My sister and I still joke all the old jokes we have our whole lives.

We all still listen intently when my sister recites, perfectly the entire GeneWilder version of Willie Wonka….and I mean the whole thing….

for the thousandth time.

We  all laugh anytime we hear  “the red angus cows drug  dad Indiana Jones-style across the back yard….”

or when the mama cow chased my sister across the pasture for spraying the calf with fly spray.  The fly spray was strapped  to her back ghost buster style and…she was screaming “Shhhheeeeeeeeeat”.

or when I wimped out , after years of reading James Herriot, in giving the cow a shot and my sister grabbed it out of my hand and stabbed it like she was  spear fishing in the Great Barrier Reef.

We aren’t respectable older people at all when

we discuss the looks our dad would give us when he had to go plunge the boys bathroom…..again.

OR when

We remember how Kel and I used to try and read the caption on the free calender in “soap opera ” voices to make ourselves cry.

When we all gather around the counter and start eating we laugh like it’s the first time any of us have ever heard these stories

we get younger everytime

I just left a few days ago …in that time they have chased a  wayward bird through my house and rounded up a few horses escaped from my pasture in the pouring rain.

I bet everyone was a good 10 years younger for sure!

For sure no one was older and mature with a towel on my sisters head while she screamed and I think the quote was,

“Kel threw a child out of the way to save herself,”my brother texted me.

yup…no older here.

Sorry pictures are limited for this topic since I am not home…and my sister threatened bodily harm to me if I put the only picture I had of here up for this…and I believe her ….

Did you write a 5Minute Friday?  Stuck with this Irene hurricane I can’t wait to read what you wrote….leave a comment so I can find yours!  ~T

what about a muskrats musk under your armpit- does that mean your older? or does that just mean you have to shave…ben ….oh ben.

It appears the older I get the more chicken I get too…or was it, I have never had good luck with animals….?

    good post sis

      Not older at all
He just has a muskrat poke his head out of his pit
If it sees his shadow we get 6 more weeks of summer

Look at me! Look at me! Up and about! I haven’t done this in 20 years!!!!!!!

    GRANDPA!

and even when we are laying up like grandma Josephine and grandma Georgina we will still be laughing it up….that is, as long as no wayward birds travel indoors, then you’re on your own bitty

A light heart makes any person defy age! It sounds like your family has found a virtual fountain of youth!
