Beach Learning I.
We learn everyday at the beach. We inspect and journal everything. It takes 15 minutes once we get to the beach to create a learning nook in our beach house. This year it includes shoving the coffee table into the corner and then layering learning essentials in an eye pleasing way. I bring a vast library with us and then there is the internet to fill in all the gaps. We have had everything from baby sea terrapins to crabs with eggs attached, and then there was the shark. We release everything back into the ocean. For our math we use Teaching Textbooks and we will probably never change. The little ones learn to read with Explode the Code. We also use Brain Pop for helpful learning videos…especially for the unexpected…like Earthquakes. Nothing beats the hands on experience they get by the ocean.

My heart is just overflowing with Thanks so let’s start with just a few…..
- Friends coming and going here at the beach.
- Seeing a Bald Eagle just sitting in front of me!
- Learning the GIANT difference in serving your family and being their servant. Thankfully serving!!!!!!!!!!
- HeyTell app….save a life and get this for your phone….down with texting!
- Deep Sleep.
- Watching and helping others come out of their spiritual sleep.
- Awesome sushi.
- Coconut oil…eating it, cooking with it and on our skin resulting in NO sunburn for us.
- Receeding flood waters back home..in real life.
- Always learning at the beach. Every.Single.Day.
- Peaceful weaning…(sniff)
- A husband who still thinks I look great in a swim suit after all these babies!
- Hearing from God. Every.Single. Day+.
Wow…schooling at the beach…what a gift…going back to normal would be hard.
Oh even though it was so long ago…I remember like yesterday…weaning…such mixed emotions.
Blessings…enjoy the beautiful “school room”
Oh it’s such a way of life to them they are expected to learn anywhere

I had to click on Mer’s pic…I like how she is answering these very interesting questions…but CAN a jeep drive in the rain….I am sure this has her stumped because of the recent rain she’s recently heard about…on one hand it can…but on the other hand…sometimes it can’t…
Yes obviously that is her ethics class

You’re making me jealous – maybe I’ll move my kindergarten classroom to the beach!
I have learned a lot about how kids learn from the two years my kids went to Waldorf school
They have a Waldorf school in Guatemala. Have you heard if it?

Oh, How I loved homeschooling! But we never got to do it at the beach, how fun!
Visiting today from Ann’s place,
Have a beautiful week!
Off season rates at the beach are less expensive because other families are in school
So we see it as an awesome bonus to teaching the kids

My children are long grown up but I would so do things differently if I had a do-over. Home schooling would be the biggest change I would make . . . let the world be your classroom . . . the beach, the garden, the kitchen, the library . . . having your children follow their interests, the things God has gifted them with and discovering His unique plans for their life. I am so inspired by the all the wonderful moms (and dads) who serve their families in this way. I foresee a rich harvest of young people who know who they are, how they got here and have a dream, a sense of their mission in life. Blessings to you all. Loved the pictures . . . I just discovered Seterra, a geography softward downlad similar to that in one of your photos and have enjoyed catching up on my geography . . . the changes in the nations of the world is astounding since I went to school.
Thanks for the tip I will check that out.
