Friends ~n~ the Fire

September 30, 2011

As much as I could write nothing about Friends…I could write 100 different 5 minutes Fridays on the subject. I have volumes and nothing to say all at the same time.

So I will say this…..

I have started again and bringing new people in has not been as intimidating as I had thought. We have always had Sunday Dinner for years… but now we are bringing new people into it.

We take the big nature walk through the woods and after climbing the last hill we sit on the deck drinking tall glasses of tea.
Stock which simmered for days now turned into nourishing soup is offered out in big bowls.
Smiley chubby babies are passed around as we finish up dinner.
Husbands start fires and kids get a little crazy.

~

As the sun goes down

the blankets are spread in the yard with kids discussing the fine art of s’mores.

Babies become entranced in the flames and children busy with marshmallows, leave adults to talk.

~

I sit back and listen to the soundtrack of the moment…

The deep tones of husbands discussing music and movies

The laughter of women

Children drifting off as they stare deep into the sky.

I thought this would be hard. I had only been burned before… but now I am warmed.

Warmed by like minded people.

I haven’t been disappointed since I started again….

~
Did you write a 5minute Friday? I would love to read it. These past two weeks of 5min Friday have been tough ones right? Either way  leave a comment so I can find my way to your writing.~T

One of the best way to connect with others is through a weekly routine – your Sunday dinners sound great ! Bravo to you for deciding to actively choose the friends you want to include.

I think just opening up to the idea and then providing a casual setting really helps.
      Thanks,

don’t forget the vino…then the conversation really gets “aflowing” not drunkerdness but a few walls coming down never hurt anyone….

    fire side chats. Love them.

Felt like I was sitting by your fire, mesmerized by the flames, just like always. Every campfire, always different, is still always the same, aren’t they?
