Grape Harvest.

October 8, 2011

Rainy days with no harvest…. forced me to work on related projects.  Much overdo projects.

But a few days of sun and high 70’s have made the harvest ready!

So today we are in the field picking .

I made these grape vines for our Nature Table.  My sister informs me that most people don’t know what a Nature Table is… okay well you know all the stuff kids bring you from outdoors…they think the little rocks and twigs and acorns are treasures…in our house they are treasures.  So onto the Nature Table they go.  I also make a few little items to represent the seasons… squirrels, bears, frogs, trees, bushes and the list goes on.  It’s all just a way to give the children a place to put and honor the treasures God has shown them.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, perhaps it was this post which inspired me.Either way, the grapevine is an obvious Autumn choice.  I do like how the fox looks with all those grapes.

 Well off to the harvest!

What a wonderful way to display those little treasures! My teenage daughter’s outgrown bringing me twigs and acorns now, but I wish I’d heard of a “nature table” back then. 🙂

That is so neat… love it! I think my husband and I might need a nature table. I love all those treasures that can be found outside! 🙂

Love your wood cutouts…we collect all those treasures and put them in shadow boxes, and I have been looking for a way to have a nature table without overtaking the dining room since we really don’t have a dedicated school room…and as I was reading your post, I realized that I could use the coffee table in our living room, the room in my “about” page…I love these treasures as much as my girl!

Oh absolutely … when I only had one or two kids we used to use the houseplants pots to keep the treasures… but as more and more stuff was making its way in the house I needed to figure out a beautiful way to display everything instead of what looked like a small brush pile, lol.
So I started carving wood figures to decorate it… the kids love it.

That is really a great idea. I keep a lot of what they bring in just here and there around the house. Some of the treasures are “catch and release” as one of my blogging friends put it which I thought was quite funny.

Love your wooden grapevines, perfect for your nature table, the fox looks great peaking out. Looks like a lot of wonderful wood crafting, me and hubby are gathering supplies so we can get started with wood crafting as well, can’t wait.

A nature table…what a great idea. We always stashed our treasures on the window sills, but a table is so much better. Love the fox in the arbor.

      Oh thank you!!
You will never regret the nature table… other wise you sort of end up with a brush pile …lol.. or a lot of rocks to dust around.
