Harvest for the Willing.
I go to the harvest empty handed.
I go to the harvest and pick up a clean bucket.
I stand with others …. the others who are willing.
We call down the line…”Wasn’t so and so to come today…”
“Yes I thought so.” But only the willing show up….
The harvest won’t pick itself…. the others know there is still work to be done.
Only the willing show up to the harvest. We nod to each other and fill clean buckets.
Babies in back packs with grapey smiles drip purple streaks on the necks of who they are carried by.
Stains the willing wear…proof they were here.
A beautiful day gifted to us while we gather all that is there for us.
All that is there for the willing who want to be part of something bigger then themselves.
With tiny tools we slice the stems free
no machines… just us.
Even the wasps and hornets don’t dare bother with us.
Hidden within hollowed out grapes past their prime.
They only feast on the rotten, leaving us to gather large clusters of perfectly ripened fruit.
We shoo them away and they, drunk and full, weeble off happy to have received anything at all.
Our hands and nails a testimony we were more then willing to harvest all that there was for us.
Signs to anyone of our story being written.
A beautiful day to harvest.
I go to the harvest empty handed.
Working to gather
I return full.
Beautifully done…both pictures and words…empty to receive…
If you don’t mind me asking…do you all have a vineyard? you have referred to harvesting before…I guess I thought of crops…
Blessings~
lol.. yes it is different sections of a larger family farm broken up over the generations.
Each of our farms touch the other..
The vineyard has been producing for only a few years but was planted maybe less then ten years ago.
The harvest… the blessing after the labour of faith and love bathed in hope
Thank you for such a great post! I remember our kids lining up at the blackberry bushes, the stains proof of their willingness!
May we all be ready and willing for the Lord’s harvest which is ready and the labourers few.
Here. Here!

This not only makes my mouth parched for juicy sweetness but it makes me consider those fruit that are worthy of picking. Will I be? I have some stains, it’s true. I just love the way you weave our story into THE story.
Your blog is poetry, T. Definitely one to read with a cup of tea and… time… time to savor. Thanks for taking the time to read mine and leave a comment 🙂 Blessings on your harvest.
