walk in love.

November 15, 2011

Such a sharp contrast in my day.

Going into the mall I see everything from Amish women picking out glasses at Pearl Vision  to teenagers skipping school making out on a bench.  The mall never seems to change.

Thanks Giving seems to be on no ones mind…. as we all shop to Christmas music.

Looking for gifts I find someone using theirs.  A talent not buried in the ground but invested to bring more to a King.

They haven’t forgotten to give thanks at all… in fact they have an entire wall devoted to a Thanks Giving Board… a billboard of praise .

All with a simple request: walk in love.  And for that they donate 5% to a non profit every month…. This month is World Vision.

It’s all a cycle… T.J, the owner wanted to give to the people of Siberia…so T.J.  came up with an idea to give… and in return now he can give bigger… and every shirt and gift which sells gives to someone else…and then it all  comes back to T.J., who  wants to give more.

Part of living missionally is working and serving with your gifts where you are and helping where you are not… and in that case walk in love is doing all those things.

~

As T.J. sets up some white machine in the corner next to his Thanks Giving wall.. he asks if I knew about Relevant.. he informs me the Smile Booth is his… he rents it out  and the blogging conference, Relevant was one of it’s more recent stops.  I blogged about Relevant here.  Check out some pics from the Relevant SmileBooth….here.

One item in particular caught my eye.

A shirt with a secret and with my big wedding anniversary in a few days I couldn’t resist.

I had to have the shirt with the secret….this kind of thing I knew would make my husband smile in that sideways kind of way that husbands only smile to their wives when they think their wife is being extra cute.

He loved the shirt… but he didn’t get the secret…and I figured in time he would figure it out.  Until then he remarked at how soft the shirt was and how it could be a favorite tee for him for a long time.

“Hey hon.. the baby’s foot is caught in your tee shirt….”

and there it was…secret revealed.

like passing a note in class… the kind that gives you butterflies

the kind that makes your husband give you that smile that only you get to see… the kind of smile that tells you he thinks you are something else.

all because we walk in love.

I just happened to find walk in love. I would love to hear about other business’ that are changing the way you do business. Especially with Christmas approaching. I have a W.A.R. international party to go to next week…and it’s not too late to have one of your own!

If you have any shops or business that are contributing to helping others while selling a great product please let me know in the comments section… I have a lot of shopping to do!~T

What a great shirt! Thank you for calling attention to those who make a difference and for encouraging us–in the sweetest way EVER–to step it up a little.

    Hi T,

That was too adorable! {Made me smile.} Thank you for sharing.

To answer your question, http://www.tradeasone.com helps people through fair trade. My post http://soulstops.com/post/2011/10/24/You-can-make-a-difference-with-fair-trade.aspx includes a short video about their work.

I just received my first shipment so I hope to post about it soon.

Love it! Your blog is great. Was the shirt with the secret part of the walk in love collection? I don’t see it on the site.

Also, thanks for checking out my blog and leaving a comment.
