What grace looks like.
I woke up this morning to a splash.
I was so asleep…and then it sounded as if someone was having a doll house sized pool party in our tub.
A mouse!…no no.. it’s probably Ben taking a bath. I roll over to see the handsome hill of a husband sleeping peacefully unaware of the beach party in our room.
A bat!
I get him up…and he confirms..it’s a drowning mouse….
he asks me ;do I want to look at it? make sure it’s dead before he takes it out?
Ugh! no I don’t want to look at the ugliness. But I feel the *ping*..the familiar ping which pulls me.
It happens every day, this ping… Grab a Camera..like a living dream… interpret this.
Determined to ignore this one… I know what happens when I choose to look away from the *ping*...perhaps after I have had some tea….I wanted to talk of pumpkins….not mice.
*ping*.…
*ping*…
I tell you I am done with everyone glorifying sin. Oh you didn’t know they do it?.. they do.. all those sermons you heard as children about “You shalt not….” all omitting relationship with Christ and centering on flesh…the opposite of To Glorify.
Stop. Trying to NOT sin. Stop.
Stop trying to get better.
Stop telling yourself…”When I finally am more patient… less angry… overcome this eating…smoking…__________…this ….this…sin…I will be more productive.”
Stop! It is all just swimming in circles.
Swimming in a pool of self…self pity and self obsession.
Don’t slip in and get caught swimming in circles:
I have sinned..can’t get better…try harder..keep sinning…didn’t mean to again…getting worse… try harder… never going to be better…I am of no use.
While you are busy fussing with sin…. you are heading in the wrong direction
So stop.
Build a relationship… Keep Moving forward. Stop petting your sin. Stop giving it so much attention.
Because you can’t do what has already been done
And you spit on the Gift which was given to you when you try…when you obsess over your flaws.
This is what we all look like when we concentrate on sin.
But that isn’t how God sees us.
The price was paid.
There is nothing you can do better….you aren’t that smart.
All that is left is for us to walk away from our sin…to stop petting it and lavishing it with attention…
Because if He doesn’t even look at us like this, with just a bit peeking out.
Jesus covered us.
He took it all…He didn’t leave some for you to handle.
Don’t scoff at what He did.
Walk in who you are…
When God looks at you He doesn’t see all the sin…
it was all covered
all of it.
Now what?
What will you do when you can’t sit and excuse yourself from activity because of sin.
You move.
You Keep Moving.
You grow in relationship.
You own what was given to you.
This is excellent… so very excellent
(poor mousie) 🙂
praise God it is all covered…
lol… well he shouldn’t have slipped into the tub…you should have heard it…just ridiculous..
should have known we would get a mouse when the temp dropped outside…and with all these workers drilling holes.

I’m back again at this post now months later 🙂 remembering how my cat takes his live mice into an empty tub to play with. They can’t run away and my cat has a splendid fun. If I am home I capture the mouse and set it free out in the field away from the dragon!
oh my gosh that is hilarious… cats are strange like that.

Funny way to illustrate a HUGE truth. I really just grasped this earlier this year, with a little help from Tullian Tchvidijian. Blessings to you for sharing this truth that we all need reminding of. 🙂
I will have to google that name…
well it seems fitting.. a wet drowned mouse is pretty gross… and I don’t want to look like it.
yikes.
T
It’s all under the Blood of Jesus! Praise the Lord!
indeed.
T
Oh MY, ugh yuck…both to the drowned mouse and the petting of sin. Thanks for the reminder to move forward and watch Him make beauty of our drowned mouse lives.
“drowned mouse lives” lol…
T
I laughed too.
Amen. I just watched an intervention last night – the boy was adopted into a Christian family who focused on sin and “living right.” it’s so sad to see how the wrong priorities can ruin a person, and a family
We will never be free until we decide to move forward in relationship with God…sin or no sin…keep moving.
T
Yea, I think Paul said something about “pressing on…and again about the things I will not to do…better yet the things I will to do…yet again and again I find myself at the throne of grace that I may find mercy and grace to to help in THIS time of need, always it seems, a break through would be nice.
Yes interesting pairing…that verse and this post…it’s in Romans 7 something
Smart and you are right to connect the two.
Chime in any time..love it.
T
I could go the rest of my life wo seeing a mouse but you actually lessened the horror. Thanks for this very good word!
Oh good kells, that’s what my aim was…to lessen your dead mouse phobia…
As your sister that is my job.
T
Brandon thought that was a great tie-in to
The mouse, but wanted to know do you always keep water in your tub in case of impromptu polar bear swim?
Or just a really elaborate mouse trap?
Oh you know… A mousetrap.
I mean, how do you catch your wayward mouse
We don’t drain the tub because the sound would wake the baby
T
wow…now there is redeeming all things…this reminds me of the song…this is my father’s world…He speaks to me everywhere…this is a wonderful illustration of God’s Grace…great post…
Have a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving….
Lol… Redeeming all things…
Itell ya if there is a mouse heaven…that dead little guy got there, lol… I mean he worked for God all day yesterday.
Happy thanksgiving.

Another post that illustrates my favourite quote . . . “Every happening great and small is a parable by which God speaks to us and the art of life is to get the message”. You got the message . . . thanks for sharing it with us.
Oh I live that… I’d don’t label it the same as that.. But for years now I have been boring my family with this concept.
Thanks for the encouragement.
T
Great post, and great analogy with poor mousie acting our part! I too am not a great mousie person, urgh. Anyway, thanks for linking up with me today. I look forward to seeing your flower pot there:)
God bless
Tracy
Lol.. That made me smile.
Thanks for recognizing me.
Sweet.

This is wonderful. Brilliant illustration of the truth. We have been studying Steve McVey’s work on Grace, he says exactly the same things. Love it.
Sheesh, another name to google.
Thank you for the compliment.
