How to find the good…or what to do with your old pumpkins, a tutorial

November 29, 2011

Like every day…full of something we can’t see.
We must be willing to look at it differently.
We can walk by it all the time…But we will not receive unless we stop and pick it up.

~

As we cut open our day we can look at it as just a giant mess  …just the ordinary.
Or…take a closer look
Clean all entanglements off… Decide that it is all a gift.

Decide that it isn’t just about us… we are collecting as an example

Passing onto others.

Everytime we stop and take the ordinary and claim it as a gift
we spread the gift to others.
Then they see through the mess… see it as a collection of jewels wrapped in a curious container
Each piece worth something.
Even valuable…nothing to be discarded.
Something worth sharing.
Something worth teaching

From here you can take the pieces…
dry them off
plant them in another season ..
because the gifts given to you can be planted in good soil to bless others.
or…
right now you can gather together …
Enjoy what you have gathered
Be thankful…truly thankful

~

because the thing you feel is ordinary might just be something you haven’t looked at from the right perspective.
Concerning the Pumpkin Seeds
we boil ours first for 10 mins in salty water
drain
and roast with oil on a cookie sheet at 400* for 20mins….or till toasty.

Ive never heard of boiling them in salty water first. thank you for the great tip. Sometimes life is messy isnt it…….. so glad you are seeking the grace/treasures in it all. (You have such beautiful little ones. Treasures indeed)

Thank you thank you…yes things get messy… And I try…lord knows I try to make sense out of it all..
      Sigh…

Anyways the boiling is like how they boil peanuts before roasting them…really infuses the salt inside.

did you use your new camera? I especially love the pic of Mer at the sink. The light is fantastic! I am looking at my messy day and reminding myself, because of the words you shared, that there is a gift to be found, I’m just gonna have to look with the expectation of finding it. All about expecting to find something rather than being lost and buried in the tangled goopy mess of it.

It ain’t always easy sista,lol.. Yesterday we really lost our way… It took some deep looking and determination to get us back in line today.
I keep thinking i hear a pilot over the loud speaker in my head, “ladies and gentlemen please buckle your seat belts as we will be experiencing a little bit of turbulence…once we are through it all should be clear up ahead…thank you for flying ” lol

And such a simple thing for sure…and kids love it.
Don’t have any after pics…because we ate them hot out of the oven.

Lol…that’s hilarious! The scarf hides all the earlier stains!
I was picking a strand of pumpkin guts out of it after I put the camera down.
Oh! And the scarf was from the W.A.R international party…so thank you for the compliment 😉

I wish I could take credit for the lightening… but it was God.. and I mean that really.. I was going to cut the pumpkins later but the sun broke and it had been raining and it just filled the kitchen with the best light…so I knew it had to happen right then…because there were more clouds and storms coming…(LOL, I am sure there is a whole post in what I just wrote but oh well, lol)
Thanks for the props.. but it wasn’t me….wish it had been my mad photography skills 🙂
