Becoming what you are built for…..

December 3, 2011

How do you know you were built for art?

What if you just want it?

You want to be able to create:  to  push the paint and smooth the clay…or steer the saw through the wood…

If you really want it, do you just talk about?  Or do you buy a few supplies and try?

And the first time isn’t what you want… but do you give up?

Do you start again… because you know , after awhile...

if you carve out time

you will like what happens more and more.

So you keep showing up with paper and paint and you slop about till one day….*ping* you catch it…and *ping* you just know something you didn’t know before

And now you feel it… and I mean you really feel it…so you keep after that *ping*

that whatever it was that made sense and you identified more with art then you ever did before…and no class could have taught you that…

but now you know that *ping* is a pull into the right direction…so you follow with your paints and passion.

It’s just that you got through all the muckabout that was between what you want and what you can be…. all that muckabout.

Wouldn’t it be so much easier if we were all born with what we were to be… what we were built for just tagged on us…so we could follow it easier?  Or is the wrestle to find which makes finding it all the sweeter?

You were built for it…to Hear.

You were built to show up and seek…

How to Show up and Gather all that you were built for:

  • Bring whatever supplies you have…camera or paper and pencil… or a notebook… or just you alone.
  • and you sit…or you walk… or you run…or you cry…or you laugh… but you show up everyday with determination.
  • you bring it all and you walk into a throne room…because you want what you aren’t getting  and you. just. know. It’s there.
  • drop all the crap…

Let’s get real…. all this not-trying-to-sin stuff is getting you no where…

Unless you show up to a relationship…are involved in a relationship…there will be no Relationship.

Show up.

These pieces were a series I was creating titled to just reach out
The concept of reaching out just to reach something we can’t see…. but is there whether we believe it…or buy into it… but the reaching itself is beautiful….so Reach.

I love it! I am so glad you are showing up……its a vulnerable place. I am finding that if I “show up” I find Him waiting there for me. I just have to put forth the effort. “Seek me and you shall find me. Knock and the door will be answered.”

It silly really that we don’t show up more often…
I mean if you told me there would be sushi at a party… I am there… And how many things are like that?
How much more should we show up for God… I mean it silly that we don’t just sit around and wait
