Open to it All

December 30, 2011

Today is Friday and the word of the day is…OPEN.

What can I tell you about open.. I  would like to tell you to open yourself up to God and you will expereince a wonderful ride of your life… and that is true…

but there are other spiritual  forces out there… and sometimes when you tell God you will be open to all that HE has for you it makes you a target…. …

When you are open… it means you are willing and not the kind of willing which says..”yeah if it’s easy”.. but the kind of open where you put a hard hat  on and boots and step forward with a truly willing heart.

I have felt the backlash a few times… and it has immobilized me, and embarrassed to say I have shrunk low and felt helpless.

For instance, being open to adoption… when I went to pick up the girls, in Guatemala, it was crippling and I didn’t expect that at all… I thought I would just finish up the formalities and fly home… and I was wrong.  I could barely turn the knob on the door to leave the hotel room. It was like being in thick mud at all times.

Just the other day I received one of the most awesome revelations I have ever gotten… (And I can’t wait to share it with you!!!)… but the backlash of living it out was the equivalent of being tossed in a hole and left and told to give up … but then again isn’t that how some of the best stories start?!

In both of these situations, and plenty more,  I will tell you this…

He doesn’t leave you in  the pit…. and it is for a reason…

hold strong… you will not be left.

~I can’t wait to share so much more with you but I think it best to start off the New Year with this fresh new revelation. I would also love to expound on how awesome the above stories have turned out… but alas we only have 5 minutes Did you write something for 5 Minute Friday.. I would love to read it. Please leave a comment so I can find my way back to you….sigh. ~T

Just added my 5 minute Friday link after yours!
    Love the pictures.
Glad to hear that you have some exciting things happening.
I think that if we are only open to what is easy – we aren’t really open. The hard hat and boots are quite helpful at times.
    God bless!

Open… I love how you expressed it… what you say is deeply true
When we know the character of God it makes trusting easier…. knowing we may be open target is not as fearful as the comfort in knowing that He is bigger than any of our troubles and is using all of this to make us more into the image of his Son…there is peace

Hi 😉 I found posted somewhere around your post on 5 Minute Fridays… and I love what you wrote. I love what you said: that by being “open” we make ourselves a target. I so agree! At times we are a target for God’s training – where heartaches come, but only heartaches He first approves of. Other times we become a target for all the blessings He longs to rain down… but yet reserves for only those whose hearts are fully fixed on Him. Yes, we may become a target – but the beauty is that we are a target for His amazing, beautiful grace. So, with hard hat and heavy boots on, I follow our Father beside you, sister. I’m glad I found you… I’m excited to follow you into the new year!

searching adoption posts to share with someone hurting right now. Praying God directs my fingers. I dont know how I missed this one. Last week our adoption agency posted something on FB and I spent all afternoon getting over it, the grief and panic that took me by surprise. So so thankful that during the dark hard days I learned that “He is.” Alpha, Omega, teacher, beloved…… you know where I am going. I shut everything off, put little one down for a nap, sobbed, read my bible, turned on praise music. leaned deep into Him.

adoption is one of those things that you can be surprised how you respond…isn’t it.
I am glad you have the good sense enough to get low and heal.
