You never knew how much….just how much.

January 3, 2012

You have heard the phrase :

“Give me a heart for what breaks yours.”

It’s trendy, it’s a poster…

it’s an advertisement…

it is even a song.

After the phrase seemed to chase me one day I prayed telling Him it seemed so anti productive to me, so limiting. So I find the things which break His heart…what then? I think, most of the things which break His heart are pretty apparent. He never said His sadness would be my strength .Then, as if He was waiting, He gave me the remedy,

“find My Joy”.

It was so clear so fast…and it struck me like when I whisper the “just You be Glorified…”
so right there I whispered it…

Lord give me a heart to see what brings Your heart joy.
and what I saw…
what He will show you…

Lord give me a heart to see what brings Your heart joy.

And with that whispered out to His ears.. you will see things that will crack your heart wide open and you will be restored. His joy will be your strength . You will see , He loves you so much.

Those moments when you curled up close under the covers with the person He picked out of the whole world to yoke you with… His heart beams for that.

That moment when the N.I.C.U., flashed with  bleeping and buzzing and all the wires but you held your baby for the first time and all you felt was how awesome His gift was… angels bowed from the Power.

The day where you held the hand of the sick…the dying?… and you were grateful for the time He gave you…He washed the sky with His joy for you .

Those days where you stand and worship because you want to climb through the crowded mind and be near Him even if it be just for a splinter of time and not because the tune is catchy… He felt the hem of His garment and He turned to listen with Joy.

There is so much more.  The things which have happened since this started…
I would love it if you would join me.  Can you join me?

Lord give me a heart to see what brings Your heart joy.

There

is

 so

much

more.

I think that he feels joy when we respond to the things that break his heart, too. 🙂

I agree with you completely Alyssa… But my sister explained it best when I was telling her about what I was hearing from God…. and she said, “Oh I get it, it’s like praying to see there are starving kids… or praying on how you will feed them.” I have used that a few times when I have explained this to others….does it makes sense?
I am only find fault with the original phrase as a personal outlook for me… and perhaps others can relate.
I think ….Christians love to sign their name to a cause… but when rubber hits the road… I mean come on?!… what is the statistics on the “if 7% of all Christians did something about the orphans in the world there would be NO orphans….” yet everyone KNOWS there are orphans.. but maybe most don’t know what to do…enter this prayer.
But that is just one facet of this prayer… because another side is realizing all the times in your life that God beamed joy because of things you had no idea He was caring about.
      IT’s beautiful really.
      🙂

In the word it says that if you’ve seen Jesus you’ve seen the Father. Well what did Jesus do? restored, delivered, set free, healed, loved and loved some more yet, it was Jesus who said “I only do what I see the Father doing” He wasn’t sitting around broken hearted. Instead it was

a cycle of doing if you will. of being. The recorded time that Jesus actually cried were out of loss of a friend (lazerus) but even before death what does the Bible say “for the JOY set before Him”

your parallel of bringing God joy in situations you hadn’t thought about – you will notice a lot of them were things Jesus did too. He didn’t sit with a heart broken….he healed the heart of the broken.
