What is Intimacy mean, anyway?

March 14, 2012

Oh dear readers.. I was so sick.  Sorry for my absence but that bug was so bad I am sure you would have caught it from my post if I had the strength enough to drag myself to the computer. But I am back and I have no idea where to start…So bear with me as I get my wobbly nutrient deprived bloggy legs under me again…..

So let’s start with the second Prayer~Fast~Worship….

~

You know when you bought the perfect gift for someone?  You may have overheard them say they wanted it…or saw it on their wish list?  Either way you already knew they wanted it…so you wrap it up just for them.  They open it and they are just overjoyed to get just what they wanted!   They put it down and give you a big hug because it is exactly what they hoped for and it came from you!  Now do you feel less happy because you know they asked for it….or are you just as happy to see them truly happy?  You are happy right?!  Of course you are…it doesn’t matter that they asked for it… you are just happy to give them what they wanted.

That is how God feels when we ask for things…He gives them to us… and here is always the clincher…We receive them.  Because let’s face it He tries to give you your hearts’ desires all the time but you don’t know how to receive them or are too afraid to receive them or you don’t think it could possibly be for you.  But on those times where you can receive and thank Him…those are great moments.

 That is what He wants…

He wants those intimate moments where you  come to Him….

you ask of Him…

and you receive from Him…

and then of course praise and worship Him for His faithfulness.

Let me tell you, without the receiving it is not intimacy with Him.

It’s that cycle…the circle of giving and asking and receiving and thanking…that is intimacy

and if you aren’t part of all of the parts… then it is not intimacy…it’s just dysfunction.

I have no doubt you can knock…and can ask… but the receive is where the intimacy really starts and it is where it really stops with us.

We are royalty… and we need to stop walking like the wretches we sing about…

and need to start walking  and singing like the ones He thought so much of, He would die for.

Gifts are all around us, but so often, I don’t see them. Or I don’t see the events as gifts. And yet, when I stop and praise, He shows me. Just now, being able to type away in sound of only birds chirping because my children are playing well together in their room — a gift. Thank you, Jesus, for giving me exactly what I need.

So often I think I know what I need but thank you Lord for knowing what I need. He is always there to make my thoughts turn back to Him. I long for the intimacy with Him and praise Him that He wants that for me also.

makes me think of the mother Teresa quote Ive been thinking of recently,
“When we look at the cross, we realize how He loved us — only love could have made Him do that. When we look at the tabernacle, we know how He loves us now. He loves you and He loves me. He made Himself Bread of Life to satisfy our hunger for His love.” ~Mother Teresa

I just love the part, ONLY LOVE could have made Him do that. It helps it sink into my heart a bit deeper. T- so sorry you were ill, its hard being the mama and being sick. I hope that you werent tending to sick littles at the same time. May Gods grace and mercy abound.

What a lovely quote of mother theresas…my friend knew her when she was young in Calcutta. she was as beautiful in person as she is remembered.

This post really blesses me. The analogy of me giving the perfect gift to someone I love… so simple, yet I hadn’t thought of God feeling that way about the gifts He gives me! Thanks for helping me complete the cycle: ask, receive, thank.

thank you for being able to re-articulate it so well… it spoke to me hearing it through you.

Since I’ve started seeing the blessings, the everyday gifts – my relationship with Him has radically changed, beautifully so. How I love hugs when I give gifts – I love that heart connection – I also grieve when I give gifts and they are casually put aside. You’ve given me much to think about:)

Are those your feet? I love your shoes! LOL – Hope you’re bloggy legs feel stronger soon:)

Hi T – so true, I hope you are feeling better now. I could never outgive God as He gave us the ultimate gift, but to give Him our deepest, our best, our all. He loves that. Great post T
God bless and as I’ve said before, love seeing your flower pot!
