So you want to be a worship leader?…..meh.

March 23, 2012

He sang it loud to his God and his beautiful wife chimed in.

He a true Worship usher ….not concerned with being a worship leader.

or rather he wasn’t to be bothered with leading you to worship….but his only thought was to usher and lead worship straight into a throne room….

if you want to come along…you are welcome … but their only interest is, not to entertain you…it is to worship a King.

They are an oddity…a curiosity…. a wonderful glimpse of what it should look like and how very off track we have gotten in our idea of worship.

“Just one gaze in Your eyes…and I am consumed, ” he sang in deep mahogany tones…. and she lightened every note like a light celery green drenched paint brush.

Their voices were not for us…but for Him.

No one had to lead…we all followed…our voices like a processional celebrating a journey towards His throne.

There were no words overhead… this song never heard before….but it didn’t matter…there was no leader of people.

I had always watched how churches would groom someone to be the worship leader…they appoint him like they have found a rockstar in their midst.

Nearly anyone can be a worship leader….to tell a bunch of people which song to sing.

But to be the one who can recognize Him in your midst…to usher Him in…to usher Praise towards His throne…that is like finding a rare diamond.

So I captured it…I recorded just a minute…because I never want to forget what it looks like to watch real worship…to be in it’s midst.

They sang together and it was beautiful… because it was a gift for a King.

The notes swirled in the room all upwards to heaven..yet straight to Him who stood right there.

I took my snippet of real worship home…I loaded it and wanted to see what it looks like…I have synthesia and I had to see the colors match the notes….so I took the recording and I painted it.

I painted what it looks like when they sang loud for their King, together.

~*~

I heard they will be there tomorrow night at the 4th Prayer~Fast~Worship…will you be there?  I have an awesome worship pianist coming too!!…I would love to see you there.  I tell people “it’s an acquired taste”.  It isn’t about entertaining each other…or even being heard, mics work and sometimes they don’t..but it isn’t about that either.  People love to be led…to be told what to do…and we don’t do that.

It isn’t about us…it’s about Him

We just gather…we show up and it happens..He happens!  He is so much bigger then being heard…or mics working…or organized words on an overhead…

He is God…so we show up…and He does too!

Will you be there tomorrow night?  If you can’t can you throw some prayers towards heaven for us?…Thanks, you are the best!…but I sure would like to see you.~T

Like Sue, I resonate to your use of color in describing music. Great perspective on what is important in worship– it’s so easy to focus on the superficial.

What’s that song…oh yeah, “I’m coming back to the heart of worship and it’s all about you, it’s all about you Jesus…”. I can hear that belted at the top of my lungs while Kelly does interpretive dance in the background. Great descriptive post for sure.

Catching up after a little “Spring Break”. This is beautiful. It really makes my heart smile.
I am so glad that your crazy and silly prayers are being answered…….. I know he delights in meeting us where we are and hearing/answering our prayers. (I love to think of the Holy Spirit interpreting our little Gs prayers)
