Running around and towards something….

April 5, 2012

So there is a lot of running around.

~

~

~We lost the tamper to pack the dirt…so we just danced it out.

~Those bees are still coming April 22 …so we still have hives to build. Ash made quick work of those additions.  Anything with a nail and hammer and he is in!    But along those lines we need a yard for the bees.  Something that says to children…”stay off our turf”…or rocks as the case may be.  So with a few helpers we hauled some slate from one side of the farm to the other.  That will make your biscuits burn for sure!  I should have picked older helpers…but they were too engrossed in chess.  Let’s just say I have bad depth and distance… I thought the ground had a slight incline…but upon leveling it out…it needs a mini retaining wall.  I love building rock walls… I will build them all day long…this is the first time I built a retaining wall with manufactured block…and well.. your rookie project of the year shouldn’t be your rookie project of your life…because it looked pitiful.  So back to Home Depot to get more rocks.  These bees better like their new digs because I feel like I am investing a lot of time into their little bee yard.

~

~The garden is coming along well… we had covered it with plastic so everything is growing super fast.  Lettuce~Turnip the Beets (say that out loud)… are planted!

~Someone found a salamander…so that sort of stopped work for an hour.  Kids ran and got books and had to know everything.  I think the salamander was pretty happy to be put back under the pond rocks.

~Then just about the time we get a good rhythm going of work…someone…maybe me, found a Praying Mantis nest…so again an inspection and small class was taught.

~

~

~Dance classes and Baseball scrimmages (I mean seriously? aren’t the games enough)

~Easter clothing for seven kids is no little accomplishment… but baby it’s done! WooHoo! Is it wrong that this felt like a huge weight off my shoulders?

~All menus are planned out…Lamb roasts, horseradish mashed potatoes, asparagus and so much more …

~Passover is tomorrow…we have celebrated it for years now and it just gets better and better.  So this year we opened it up to everyone…and wouldn’t you know the year we open it up to everyone…..

~We were asked to do Prayer~Fast~Worship on Good Friday night…so we will “in haste” make an  “exodus” from my house and ALL of us ,after celebrating His promises and His Covenants with Passover dinner, will caravan over and do PFW for 2 hours non stop.  So in a flurry of guitars , newly arrived drums and sheet music we have all been Hey Telling each other what songs feel right.  We are all excited….I mean something is going to happen.  You can’t have all of this happening on one night with so many authentic hearts and something not happen…it’s going to be great!  Oh I am so excited!!!! Do you want to go?  Please do!  It’s going to be good!!!

Oh and you can best believe that we will be singing this song…I have been looking for it for weeks and today (no coincidences for sure) I figured out what it was titled…

And the day isn’t even over…

oh how I wish we could join in on all the merriment.
I didnt even realize till an hour ago that I still hadnt looked for new shoes for the kids. (or had oldest try on/ see if he even has pants that fit!!!) Maybe when Lil G wakes up from her nap Sister will be home and we can go buy shoes. Im not wanting to have it on “the list” for tomorrow or Saturday. Son accidentally ran the weedeater too close to the peas. sigh. Your day looks like so much fun T!!!

      ugh shoes…that is tricky.
one year my son came in proudly to tell me he had “ripped out all the weeds past the garden”…those weeds were my potato plants.

yes, the shoes part was very tricky. I knew she needed non-typical type shoes. Hunted every store. no over exaggeration here. only to learn that payless has Stride rite knock offs- the stores that carried stride rite didnt order her size. (I guess little girls wearing a 9.5 or 10 shoe are already trying to be like mommy?!) So…… even tho I was willing to pay way too much, God blessed us with what we needed/wanted for half the price!
I try not to be too critical with my “help” I have learned that before I am ready it will be a season of quiet and I can do it myself tasks. Thankful for Grace and grace…… she brings laughter and play back into our home when we thought that season was over. You are so blessed to have it all around you.
