What is this Prayer~Fast~Worship? (with links)
“What is this Prayer~Fast~Worship?” she asked blocking my way out of the row of chairs. A stack of children’s coats in my arms sliding out of my grasp.
How to describe it…this ever changing thing we call PFW.
The bare minimum is to pray, fast and worship while you are there with us….with Him. But there is just so much more …
We just wanted a place to go..
Where we could play music and worship. So we needed an other place to go.
A place where we could pray.
We could gather on Saturday…so the overflow of filling this spiritual warehouse will be felt the following morning.
I remember the first one… someone came up to me while the guitars were tuning behind me…and advised me to tell everyone what to do and what to expect…I smiled, politely.
I knew it wasn’t about telling them what to do… but just to show them…to let His Presence fill this place and they would have to respond.
It’s funny because it is my nature to teach…to explain things…to sell them to people. But I heard clearly “to lead…just lead. Let it all be Mine.”
So how do I explain this other place….this Prayer~Fast~Worship.
How do I explain how we got here…let alone how it changes… (click on bolded links to read more on each)
Well the first week He told us “it was the first note of a song…and to Fill His house with carols”
The second week He explained the concept of Intimacy…how we receive from Him upon asking …and in return we worship and praise Him…and ask “more”..and the cycle is intimacy.
We have learned why the fasting…. your flesh is weaker…less struggling against your spirit which wants relationship and intimacy with Him.
I have watched as He has led me to understand the difference between a worship leader and a worship usher.
I saw weeks where we felt Him strong…and weeks where it was like pushing mud to get through.
When I am walking with a Royal mindset I start to see that nothing is a coincidence but all part of a Divine Itinerary.
And now…when they called me to see if I would continue this PFW thing…. there was no hesitation from me.
One major thing…and I haven’t really gone into it here…because I hate to give any credit to anyone but Him… but I have watched curiously how He exposes the other sides plans at our PFW. Everyone has seen or felt the opposition. We have seen it in human form twice…and well….umm…we just know it exists. Every single time it is exposed. Either way it’s a curious thing. I don’t want to freak you out…so that is all I can say, for now.
So what is PFW?
It’s a place where it doesn’t matter if the mics work or anyone “amen’s” your prayers…
It’s a place where you can sing like a bean in a tin can…as long as it is for Him.
It is a place where the music and prayers are geared towards Him…not towards each other.
It is about Who is there…and not about the numbers of who are not there.
~But to sum it up… it is about being in a Throne room…and there:
What would you say?
What would you sing?
What would you feel?
What would you do?
It’s about Receiving all that He has for you…Thanking Him for all He has done for you….and asking for more….(rinse and repeat).
Now saturated in His Presence...smelling of Him…enter into your Divine Itinerary.
(lol…and now you understand why I said it is my personality to sell things~T)
I wish I lived near you so that I could experience first hand this community of believers!
mee too!
that would rock!
I know if people could go to at least two PFW’s they would just be floored.

Please continue your 🙂 PFW. I travel a lot to Maryland on the weekends and I will share with other friends on my road about the Saturday night PFW. Love, Opa
It is awesome what you guys are doing! Taking hold of a vision that God placed in your heart! I am so grateful that you linked this post to Worship Wednesday. This post is amazing… and echoes so many of my thoughts about how scripted and “boxed” we can become. Worship is between us as individuals and our Creator God… and it doesn’t always fit comfortably in a service order. So thankful for your heart!
thank you…
I am glad you can appreciate this kind of thing…
Thank you.

Amen! Sounds amazing! I love being in God’s presence too. Have fun taking it in and being an example of how worship doesn’t have to “look” a certain way. Be blessed. 🙂 Lauren, lholmes79.wordpress.com
thank you…blessings to you too.

I’m so laughing at myself, because my first thought was “I HAVE to know more about this PFW”, and my second thought was “I’ll ask her exactly how they run it.” Sort of missing the point! I long for this and yet the fear of being vulnerable in front of others is winning right now.
We barely run it… We are responsible for the evening…but essentially we just show up with only a little bit knowing then other folks who show up. He shows up and things organically occur. There have been plenty of people who want me to direct it and make things happen… But there are plenty of classes, services and what not for that…this is just a showing up and expecting Him…and He always does. I would love to be 24 hours… But at this point three hours is all we can do.
Ask away…I am pretty much an open book.

I feel a bit of panic just reading about the lack of structure. Though it’s exactly what I need – trust. As an aside – how in the world do you respond so quickly with 7 kids? iPhone?
Lol…my kids are more or less in bed…except a few little girls watching up late past their bedtimes. 🙂
The lack of structure freaks everyone out… But we know He exists…and if He does ( and He does) then we can wait to see what He says. Sometimes it is just a line or two…. Other times more. Either way we praise Him…sometimes with as structured song…but it normally drifts off into a more spontaneous worship.
On a much MUCH more grander lively scale we recently found out of other people who do this type of thing in Canada….it’s not called PFW… And they are every three months and they go for twenty some hours….the Canadians who stayed with us a few weeks ago put them on… But they are in Vancover…so not near you? Either way they call them Burns…is it called it Red Maple ministries ( I may be wrong about that)… Either way ,like I said, much more lively…ours are generally more chill.
