A bag of this and that…and birds.

Oh it is a wonderful day… I have ratted out the play room once again…and big bulging bags of broken bits are out by the mailbox! It is by far one of my favorite cleaning methods there is….only surpassed by the love of my life getting me a great big dumpster. I know!? The things which make me tick! In my life there are a few worldly success that I treasure more than…filling a dumpster with crap we don’t need, the other is planting a tree. Both of those things make me feel very accomplished in a basic sense….All of those trumped by the end all be all of my wonderful husband getting me a real live contractor! I love when I can just point at unused square footage in my home and say, “Build me a giant window seat…. I want a rock wall here… make a loft there….hide a bed in there…. built in bookcases there!” A subcontractor or contractor on my property puts a skip in my step for sure…and well, it’s win win for everyone right? We all know what happens to workers who end up here…so can we call it a ministry?!

~
Anyways… there is talk of new projects and things to be built… but for now I am ratting out rooms and reading (pronounced “redding”) up rooms. There is a little East Coast lesson for you. When I first got married and my husband’s parents were coming to visit I declared, “Oh we need to read up”(truth be told , I probably declared a few other things…but for now we will stick to this!) and my husband thought I meant we needed to paint. That is when I learned the rest of the world doesn’t speak Pennsylvania Dutch… ’round here when you have guests coming you “read(red) up the house”… which means you put things away…it’s not a deep clean it’s a picking up stuff kind of thing. I could go on and teach you a full blown lingo lesson… but we will start small, lol.  We will leave the rest till then.( ending when you will be somewhere with “then”, 2nd lesson given, you’re welcome)

~
OH…the birds. I nearly forgot with our chatting about contractors and new projects…  At the wedding I had a few folks commission me to paint specific birds for them. So the matted ones were done the day after the wedding… the others are still works in process. So if you bought one…I have not forgot you and I am still going about them. Isn’t that little bird cute? He just seemed to hop on the page… he isn’t finished but he is a little cutie.  Two of the birds are getting words in the corner per the person’s request.  I am a little nervous about that because I haven’t had the most success with lettering.

Wow! You’re birds are so wonderful! I really did say wow out loud when the page loaded! So intricate and still feminine – I love them!

Never heard of that phrase before but I sure need to do it in my house. A dumpster sounds like heaven to me, lol! Happy PPF!

are you kidding… you are a dear soul.
      thank you!
and you totally need a dumpster… there is nothing like the little slice of heaven as throwing out stuff…and knowing you never have to clean it again…or see it all broken….and from you having four boys… (I have 3 the other 4 are girls) I bet you have some brokers stuff.

Your birds are so beautiful, and I love the post about the meaning of ‘read up.’ That’s completely new to me. I guess I don’t know much Pennsylvania Dutch at all. I hope you post more about that!

lol…maybe I will then.…there are tons more wacky phrases we use because of our PA Dutch roots.

I just love these birds, they are so whimsical. I cringe whenever the husband starts talking about a renovation project…yours must go a lot more smoothly (and quickly) than ours.

I love your birds – one of my favorite things is creating animals “colored” with doodles and small drawings. All your work is beautiful.

Lettering ideas…. Type out what you want in the font you want. Print. Put it under notebook paper to practice your formation and spacing. Then after I’ve got that down I use the good one on the notebook paper and put it right above the pencil line ie drawn out. The most important part about lettering is having your midline consistent and then the spacing. Hope this helps and frees you to create! (and doesn’t weigh you down. Not my intention at all!) your birds are so sweet and I’ve wanted to do some whimsy birds too, yet haven’t wanted to “copy”your idea. Wink. Blessings T. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Ps. I think I’ve pinned a font website that is FUN! Maybe on sites n favorite places or inspiration. It might help if you try my process.
