Great Design.

July 28, 2012

There is  just something fascinating  about the Great Design of things…

(first time we ordered this little heirloom…but there is only one, so far)

(what the heck do I even do with this many tomatillos? and that mailbox toolbox is awesome)

(our tomatos are mostly at this stage… soon!)

(this sunflower has reseeded itself every year…only just one every year)

Every morning you can find me out standing by the tomato plants.  I am standing completely still and just staring.    I follow the little chewed off leaves to where a very well camouflaged horn worm sits devouring the leaves on my plants.  Big gummy hornworms.  Super gross.  Then I pull the branch off  and deliver the chicken equivalent of a gummy worm to it’s lucky recipient….the dawn patrol is always close to me, waiting.  A week ago I thought something was off …where was the wasp larva that is supposed to lay their eggs on these little parasites?  The parasite receives a  parasite.  And no matter how bad you want to pluck the infested hornworms off….you leave them be if they are covered in eggs.

(ignore the withered plant… the walnut tree blew to close to it during that tornado awhile back….all the other tomato plants are rocking!)

Then yesterday it happened…. nature rights itself…no chemicals needed…. you just wait.   You do what you need to in the interim…pull off the uninfected ones off…till the wasps catch word that there is a lovely place to lay their young.    So all my worries for those nasty hornworms is now handled.  I know it may not be pretty to look at…. but it is always nice to see the Grand Design play out….just be the good gardner.  Just be diligent…go after the good fruit and you will be provided for… and sometimes it will be ugly to look at… but it is provision and HE is blessing the work of your hands.

We are studying the Olympics so once we get our maps up and folders colored,  the rest of the day will be  worship, worship and more worship…. will I see you there?  We have been asked to do an outreach locally…so I am packing up these little “VonTraps” and we will do what we can do.  Then it is off to PFW tonight...which we don’t have a sitter for so it will be all of us.  My hope…my prayer… my plea…is to just be enveloped in that true worship experience all day, with all 7 of these kids.  Are my hopes too high?  What if I believe for it?  I know He shows up for things like this… I know He responds to worship…so let’s get excited and see what will happen?!
