First Frost

10 weeks till Christmas and we have had our first frost.  The kind that made us scramble out and try and harvest anything which could come in before it could be damaged.

~Take from the last season everything we can to enter the new.

Sick and feverish I needed to  enlist some help from the youngest in the crew… they love nothing more than working side by side with me in the garden.

~Working with The Gardener is always best.

We had a jam packed week of activity planned…but when momma gets sick, things get pushed to the side.

~Nothing is as urgent as it seems.

Momma guilt from being sick made me think my kids were learning nothing… but watching one teach the other to count and balance the peppers and another  teach one to tell time made me ease up on myself.

~Learning is everywhere…and all of it is spiritual.

Waking up to the first frost was beautiful and comforting.

~Realizing you are entering a new season and leaving the other behind can soothe you if you trust in something bigger than yourself.

10 weeks till Christmas and I realize there is a lot to do…but I know it will all be accomplished.  This season may be  unlike any other in my life… but it brings peace and assurance and the new strength I have been equipped with all summer long.
