Stand for Something.
Get up and Get out!
Go vote. Even if you think your voice isn’t heard.
Even if you think it is all rigged… and you live in a jaded world where they just do what they want anyways.
Because regardless of where you go today… when you fall asleep tonight you will have voted.
Every time you stand up and vote your beliefs… you change the spiritual world. You throw another pebble into a rippling pool.
As you cast your vote you have no idea what will happen…voting is like having faith…faith that something will change.
Every time you vote your beliefs you take a stand.
Every time you do nothing you vote against your beliefs.
It is voting either way.
Even when you say nothing…. you are saying something.
When you don’t say “no” to injustice you are saying “yes” to it…
When you stand alone…you still stand.
Even when everyone sits around you with pretty smiles and you stand up like a sore thumb…. you are still standing for something.
Even if for generations others have told you to “just let crazy be”…. “What can we do?”…. “nothing will ever really change”
When they say…. “but they are just too strong… just go along with it”
Stand….. Because the legacy you inherited is not the one you need to keep going.
Stand.
At some moment in your life you have to stop the abuse… the injustice…. this sociopathic behavior you see.
When leaders don’t have a conscience… you must stand.
If you don’t say no… you are saying yes.
If you don’t stand…. you are sitting with them.
~~ I , and my 7 kids, went out and voted this morning. It may surprise you on who I voted for…. but to me it is not about who wins or loses… because I believe in a God who Provides. To me it is about aligning myself with something bigger than myself. Standing up…and saying this is what I believe…and I can’t vote to sit with the sociopaths. He gave me a conscience. I am what I celebrate and I celebrate the ability to vote with my beliefs…..and my flock of kids:) ~~

~And to that friend who called and left a message while I was writing this….Thank you. It moves me deeply to know that He would tell you to call me and tell me…me?…to tell me, “Tell her that her vote does matter…what she votes for does matter. Her vote is changing things” You had no idea I was in the process of writing this or what I was even writing about, and you thought it so geeky to call and tell me that word… you had no idea. This piece is so much bigger and is talking about something so much bigger than election day….And that He would want me to know my vote matters… just wrecks me and puts me all back together…Thank you.~
Voted last week. We were having a good day. Sometimes the bad days sneak up and blindside you, so I felt like I needed to take advantage of a good thing. I’m glad you did too!
oh good…smart thinking.
I hope you are walking in a string of good days…. and the vision to see the gold in the rocks…when you walk through rocks.
T
I love you.
right back atcha!
Love your thoughts on voting and standing, T.
Very cool that God cared enough to have your friend call you right when you needed it. My vote doesn’t match up with anyone around me, but I am thankful my voice is getting stronger, that I’m growing more and more comfortable in my own skin. That matters. For me and for you 🙂
Great post and beautiful testimony tacked on at the end. I kept saying all along “I am not gonna vote” with the usual stand of excuses following behind. But these last couple weeks I kept feeling uncomfortable. Kept thinking of the example to my daughters. Keep thinking of the privilege and enormous blessing of living in a democracy. And so I voted. And was glad for it.
Cheers
