Love Regardless

November 21, 2012

What happens when you give away your last jar of  honey or joy…or forgiveness… of hope or maybe love?

When you have collected all the good bits and you have fanned out all the impurities and you, spent and exhausted….offer it.

Because that is what honey is…gathering beauty from  over thousands of  things and then condensing it all down.

offering your last and final jar.

a gesture of hope.

Instead of it seen as a gift…seen as a weapon.  Your kindness mistaken for weakness….an opportunity to hurt you.

What then?

What then when you give away your last jar of hope and joy and they leave it in the parking lot….for you, as a message of their hate….or how very witty they think they are.

Your love returned.  Return to sender….address unknown…no such person…no such zone….and you can hear them sing it like they did when you were a child.  You wonder how long they were always singing it to you.

I will tell you what you do…..

You .

Love.

Regardless.

Because they are a broken mess… oozing hurt and brokeness so deep that they can’t even hide it anymore.  A cowardice gesture of a hopeful bully….and you rise above strong and steady….   You Love Regardless.

You love them for the people He has made them to be….and they aren’t there yet…and neither are you….  but you can be a leader by loving them regardless of their behavior.

So as you walk the high wire line of the holidays…. Love Regardless.

You trust a God who provides for you….

and He will provide for them too…

So you see them through His eyes…and He loves them….enough said.

The Spirit that Loved you  regardless throughout a tortuous death….

That Spirit is in you now… so you let that come through and you just Love Regardless.
