A Promise.
I have mulled these verses over in my head all day…. a Lectio Divina of sorts, a few more verses than normal.
Romans 10:9-13
New International Version (NIV)
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
If you have wondered why I have gone down this Roman’s Road it was because I was asked. Just a man with tears in his eyes… a strong man…who asked for a strong finish to the year. A challenge to sit with just this collection of verses for the week…. to hear a Provider speak. These verses so organized to bring people to salvation have rubbed me wrong… mostly because I get itchy at the idea of “reducing for quick sale” a God who is so much more about a Love for His people than just saving you from your sins. (Not that I want to take away the majesty of that awesome idea, but He is so much else). So I have sought Him for fresh revelation for me…and maybe for you… on what I should Hear when I read these anew… I mean, wasn’t that the request to begin with?
I am so happy I did as I hear all over again a love that is in the everyday and in every moment… and not just a saving from sins at the end of your road on this Earth. He is an Everything that would refer to you as His Beloved….His. He has everything…and wants you…me. He can make you hear and see like you have never before… He can make you love people that you thought otherwise or previously unloveable. He is the type of amazing that raises from the dead so you are no longer bound by a guilt filled law. All for you. Because you aren’t the wretch you sang about on Sunday…
you
are
His
Beloved
And when you call on His name you will be saved…promise. It doesn’t always look like you think it should… but it will be good and right. But if you believe in a Provider which can raise from the dead…if you truly believe that then you will know ; Whoever calls on His Name will. be. saved. But these verses they say you must believe in a God who does the impossible…who can do the impossible in your life. Not just a God who can die on a burdened heavy laden cross… but the God of an open and empty tomb. A Provider who can overcome something impossible. Every impossible thing in your life…He can overcome.
Call on His name…. He promised.
LOVE this! God want us to have a joy filled abundant life. Thanks for the reminder. I needed to hear this today.
i know He very much wants this for you!
