Lots of last minute prepping going on around here.  Parties every night… get togethers in between.  Friends stopping by and dropping off gifts for the kids.  Christmas always surprises you doesn’t it?  Even the best laid plans for the holidays always leave me scurrying for last minute things.    A never ending list of lists.  Sometimes it is a good idea to push back and carve out some time just to sit with the quiet… if you can find it.

Take a walk.

Dance in the kitchen.

Sit in front of the fire talking with the very best people.

Eat that extra cookie…. and give one more  to someone who has  already had their share.

In a few mornings we will wake up with the kids all excited and us all blurry.  I will come downstairs and pop in the baked french toast which I make every year.  It is really the best for Christmas morning… because while the tea is brewing and the stockings have been taken down and sorted through…the breakfast manages itself. As we stuff the last bits of wrapping paper into one mammoth bag… the french toast will be ready and the whole house will smell all warm and cozy and cinnamony. Baked French Toast is a gift to myself as much as it is a favored tradition to my family.  How nice it is to just  wake up and let breakfast prepare its’ way.

So may you be blessed this Christmas.

May you take a few moments and step out of it all just to breathe it all in…this moment with these people.

Your recipe sounds so wonderful… as does your description of Christmas morning in your home. 🙂

I have saved this message for weeks. Finally, this morning, I copied the recipe card photo and pasted it into a Word document. It now sits in my “Recipes” file awaiting a leisurely morning when we expect to have time for a sit-down breakfast. Yummm! Maybe I could prepare it this Saturday night for Sunday breakfast.
    Thanks for sharing!
