Just to be with you.
There his plate sits completely untouched. An array of his favorite foods being eyed by his siblings. He had come in very happy to see what was all laid out for him. He’s six. He’s a boy. It’s lunch. In his mind, it’s been forever since breakfast.
Yet, he is not eating it.
Nope.
A quick scan out into this beautiful day and I see him changing into his sneakers. This copper headed one catches onto his father’s new routine quickly. Zim noticed his father going for a run across the field , for the past few days before lunch. It may have only started three days ago, since the weather changed… but that is all Zim needs. He craves it. He is already one step ahead… he knows he will show up…so he waits, sneakers on.
Caught by his father’s hands at birth. His first look into this world was his Dad smiling at him. No doctors, no midwives…just us. The first sound he heard is that sound his Dad makes only when a baby is born. Since the day Zim was born he couldn’t be around his dad enough.
It drives me nuts sometimes. Zim knows when his dad will drive in… when he will need to leave. He paces about hoping to go along..where ever his dad may go. He knows where he is and when his plane will land and how long it will take him to get from the airport to home. Zim has an extra sense where his father is concerned. He paces about… he would forgo his food…. his favorite activity…. just to be with him.
Can you imagine that devotion to a Father?
Can you imagine nothing on this planet being worth separation?
Can you imagine forgoing the things of your self…just to know your Father better?
When He moves you move… when you feel Him near you would respond…. no matter the distance.
How awesome is the Father’s love for us??
