Oh she’s a happy little thing.  The HusBen picked her out.  As you know I had been waffling back and forth between a couch dog or a responsible herding dog.  Most recently I had been calling breeders about a working English Shepherd.  I even had the HusBen call the ultrasound vet back to find out about the litter he had told me about.  I think I spooked him.  Here I was switching from a 10 pound idea to a 60pound idea.  One morning after returning from coffee with some of my relatives he very proudly declared,”I called about the cute fluffy one… she’s 12 weeks and weighs a pound and a half.”  Well I laughed and told him I wasn’t qualified to keep anything that small alive… to which he reminded me that I fed my first son with a dropper and he turned out to be a genius so I was totally qualified.  Touché.

Nothing prepared me for how small 1.5pounds would be.  I was sure we would kill her.  However, after more than a week, she is perfect. We named her Spec…. because that is what she is. And not a poo or doodle to her name which is great luck!   For now she lives in my studio…with it’s tile floors and high step to get out, it is perfect for a new puppy.  These above normal but oh so welcomed warm December days have made perfect conditions for house training this little lady.

Spec was so happy to meet Garden.  Not to be intimidated by size, as everything is much bigger than her anyway, Spec rushed right over.  Garden being the oldest of souls at a ripe one year old… was unimpressed.  Nothing compares to Garden… but little Spec has settled right in with her own job on our micro farm. She is bouncy yet will lay for hours in your lap while you read a book.  She has tested out many laps and many Christmas book gifts have been successfully completed with her assistance…. and no doubt because of her.

I hope they will help with putting your vision on paper. It’s always good to have technique along with your talents. Some of the exercises seem so silly but they really will make a difference. Your young ones will find it helpful too. Cant get over that puppy she is sooooo cute.
