The way I empower my preschooler to be a self starting learner is to tell her many things that begin with the weeks letter. She thinks about which one she would like to learn more about. Then I facilitate that in any way I can…through books, experiences, art or a craft and exploration. The older kids always get in on the letter of the week no matter their age. The olders find topics of their own interest and dig deeper with books. We find having a letter of the week really guides us into learning things we may not have thought to research.

What a great idea! Wish I’d thought of it when I was in that season of life. And what rich experiences those pics show all those kids enjoying together.
