Wedding Birds.

May 4, 2012

~

It’s getting real….

real close to my brother’s wedding…  I am so excited.  His wonderful fiance has asked me to paint a flock of birds for the reception…so everyday I release a new creation.  If you call me on the phone and my voice sounds quiet…it’s “the birds”…. if my 7kids can’t find me…”momma’s with the birds”.

Tons of whimsical birds.

I just love my brothers.  To think one is getting married is just mind blowing.  They are eleven years younger then me and I just really got to appreciate them when they were babies.  I watched them all summer and every weekend…well and ,plus nights.  So I think the sun rises and sets on their heads…and now this extends to Ben’s fiance.  I would do anything for them…even put myself out there in paint.

Everyone keeps asking me…”well how many birds do you need to paint yet?’…and I can’t tell you…because some birds are not cute…so for every blah~bird, I make myself paint two more.  And it’s their wedding for crying out loud..I can’t have my quirky birds drop the ball.  So every spare minute…(and plenty I just take from other moments I should be doing something else), I paint birds.

You know what is really crazy…people getting married!  That just blows my mind…and don’t get me wrong I did it.  But that you  would find someone in this world and think…”I want to have my best and worst days with you”…just crazy!  “I will be real with you…and somedays I will so not be real with you…and then we will have to hash that out later”…that is just nuts and wonderful all at the same time.

Hopefully this weekend I can take a bird break and put all of my garden in, in lieu of just leaving all the plants on the deck.  My entire deck is lined with plants being adequately tortured and desperately needing to be planted.

very beautiful birds. I know how you feel. My son is getting married next Saturday. Mothers Day Weekend. I have been busy from sun up till sundown. (I know its typically the mother of the Bride that does all this. But I offered. And they took me up on the offer- I am honored.) Just got the bouttonieres done- and dont ask me how to spell that cuz each try was wrong and spell check was no help. Off to cut lengths of twine for my canning jar flower vases and finally fix the other flower girl dresses. (two sizes too big at least!)

Um, I totally identify about the plants! That is exactly how my patio was until today, lined with neglected, inplanted plants!
And those birds are absolutely adorable. Hope you are able to get them all finished in time! ~Frances

I LOVE your birds!! I kinda want them on a shirt or something.

Getting married is really weird. Having kids is weirder. We started dating in grade school, so some days there’s this feeling of “wait…how did we end up here again?” and it’s so fun.
