He took her to a rabbit show… the national convention.  He sneezed the whole way through.  For the joy in his daughters eyes he blinked back allergy eyes.  She gasped at each cage full of fur and he sniffled.  She has asked nearly every week for a year.  She scrubbed down cages last week at the mere mention of the slight chance that we could slide a trip like this into our schedule.  To say she could barely contain herself is an understatement.  The other girls are happy about the new fur friends.   But one sister in particular is aglow.  And this momma…is pretty darn excited too… but I am trying to play it cool.

Today the dad who makes their dreams into reality went and picked up the first rabbit.  He is still sneezing. We don’t have a name yet for this pretty lady bunny….ideas?  She was born the day after my birthday…so clearly it was meant to be!  They are all excited to get to spinning their own yarn.  They have learned to knit and crochet, and recently have dabbled in spinning.  The great thing about angora rabbits is you can spin directly from the rabbit.  Rabbits do not have lanolin like sheep.  The process for cleaning wool from sheep is very intense from my experience with sheep…and is no comparison to the ease of rabbits.

These girls have grand visions of angora scarves and hats… and selling the spun wool.
