Gnome Homes and Water Paint.
While my wood working shop is under renovation…
I thought I would be okay with it…
I ordered new waterpainting supplies just to keep my attention…
I thought I could handle a few weeks without it.
I was wrong.
You would think it would be enough that there are saws and construction going on around me…
It isn’t.
So I find some scrap wood and ask the builders to cut this and that…
You may be surprised to know that grown men with lots of tattoos get a glint in their eye when they hear you are building a small gnome home… a roof for an old tree stump.

Cal paints the roof on this nice sunny day.
Bel paints the little people for their new home.
More colorful then I would have…. but probably for the best.. easier to find if they try and run off and hide when we take them to their new home.

The lopsided little stump gets a renovation.
I have been eyeing this stump for weeks. It’s just one of those places, as a kid, I would have wanted to shrink down into and explore…. but now I am a grown up (at least that is what these children of mine keep telling me)…
So they made use of the new gnome home and all the gnomes…and with them tucked away in their imagination… I snuck off to paint of birds and stumps… I don’t know how I feel about what I painted… it just sort of happened. I am still getting my water painting legs, so to speak.

When we were kids… and I am sure my sister will chime in here and give you some more insight… I always built elaborate Barbie houses. My sister would get so excited…thinking it implied I would play with her..but once everything was all set up I would leave her to her dolls. It used to annoy her so much…and again , I am sure she will tell you it still annoys her to this day. Same thing with my brothers.. I would build these all encompassing Brio wooden train tracks and then walk away. I just never played much… I liked to set up and build. This works well for my children as I am always doing one project or another… and generally they get to reap the rewards.

These shapes they made the gnome people with are so cute. What are they named? Do you find them at the local hobby store? They are perfect for little hands. This gnome home is A.dor.a.ble!!!! And the bluebird…….. you are one talented lady!
Yes.. I bought the pieces at the michaels craft store.. I wanted something which wouldn’t be a choking hazard… So I bought big heads and then little wooden flower pots and fastened them with a screw

Great idea! Thank you for the kind comment over on my page for Fridays post. My Post on Wednesday on internet crime was about my daughters wedding rings. This is what all the tears are about… We are devastated. It was hard enough for things to get so bad for her to feel like she needed to sell them, they are gone. I keep telling her they were just things and that God will provide, restore, you name it. But she is so so broken already. Thank you for your prayers. Her name is Ashley, she is the most beautiful young lady. I am so glad she is home.

They do talk about it so much…and now my grandmother who loves what we did … Has gone down there and hid things for the kids to find next time we hike back.

A wood shop!!! Actually I’m kind of envious. I have a business idea in which you may be interested. Also, I would like to buy the watercolor of a bluebird for my friend Heather. She lost her son in a car accident (Eli’s best friend) and whenever she sees a bluebird it makes her believe in happiness.
hi susan. I agree that bluebird is amazing sis. And susan how thoughtful of you to want to give it to your friend. I remember who you are talking about (8) I think because the blue bird has wings out stretched that it’s also a sign of HOPE for the future..
